The Philippine Hobie Challenge 2016
Southwestern Visayas Challenge | 20th February to 28th February 2016
This serves as the Preliminary Notice of Race of the Philippine Hobie Challenge 2016. Hobie sailors can look forward to 5 new destinations in the Visayas for the 16th Challenge.
Day 1 begins in Mactan Island, Cebu, with numerous 5 star resorts and convenient international airport access.
Day 2 is in Cabilao Island, a popular diving destination with beautiful reefs, white sand beaches, and bird sanctuaries.
Day 3 is in Sumilon Island, known for its large shallow reef, a haven for clown fish, and its proximity to whale sharks. Race start time is delayed for swimming and interacting with whale sharks in the morning.
Day 4, in Balicasag Island, a UNESCO heritage site, features great beaches and fine snorkeling.
Inshore races on Day 5 finish with lunch on Panglao Island, known for its beaches, nightlife, tarsiers and the famous Chocolate Hills.
The Challenge concludes in Siquijor, where a wonderful resort and mystic traditions await. Sailors round the white sand beaches of the 50nm coastline to reach the finish line.
Charter boats are available for participants and larger yachts are welcome to join the Rally, which accompanies the Challenge race. Direct international flights are available to Cebu, for the start of the race,
and domestic flights from Dumaguete, after the finish.
